2 Reasons for Broke Renters to Use Tape

So far my years as a renter have been pretty fortunate. I’ve never encountered a landlord who wasn’t nice enough to let me paint the walls with the condition that I paint them back before I move out. However, I have heard of other renters you aren’t so lucky. Still, sometimes it just isn’t worth the money or the hassle when I know I won’t be living there for very long. This time, I wanted to be able spruce up my walls without having to paint or break my microscopic budget.

Cracked Mirror Design

In our living room we created this funky, “cracked mirror” design to tie in our modern rug. I kid you not it took less than 5 minutes and cost less than $3. One roll covered the entire wall and we had plenty left over. When you do it, make sure not to stretch the tape too much or it’ll peel off overnight.┬áIf you’re a renter and planning to take this off in the future, test a small part of your wall to make sure it doesn’t leave any residue first! If your walls are painted with a hard to wipe matte paint this might be hard to take off so be sure to test it first.

Faux Crown Molding

I love a home with historic character. It reminds me of my hometown, Washington D.C. Where I grew up, the buildings are all super old but everywhere you look you are surrounded by modern culture. Vibrant murals, street art, and funky outfits crowd the streets. I love my home to give off that same vibe. Unfortunately, the home we live is less than 10 years old and lacks any personality at all. Hence, I decided to create some myself!
